WE Knife 604 Review

100 Knives in 100 Days Giveaway: The WE Knife 604

I am a big fan of WE Knife Company. I wrote an article on their Synergy 2 knife in the August issue (Online Premium Members Click Here), and have enjoyed getting to know the folks at the company over the past couple of years. While it seems like there are new “premium” Chinese companies popping up every week, WE was one of the pioneers in the niche, and the quality of what they produce, and the price at which they can do it, has put the premium American makers on notice.

I have said it before, but while there are a multitude of nationalistic and ethical reasons for refraining from carrying a Chinese knife, to say it is because of quality is no longer a valid excuse.

Today is Day 97 of our 100 Knives in 100 Days Giveaway. We are giving away a sleek looking WE 604 titanium frame lock folder.

If you want to win this knife, you must register for a free KnifeMagazine.com account, and leave a comment on our Official Contest Thread. Your single entry remains valid for the duration of our contest.

Personal Observations:

The fit and finish are exquisite. There is a tremendous amount of milling involved with the draconic scales, and it looks great throughout. The edge is freakishly sharp, and the grind lines are even and well executed. The action is buttery smooth. Definite fidget potential with this one.

One interesting detail is how they have texturing on the lock bar side of the frame, but it is smooth on the side your thumb slides against when you unlock the knife.

This attention to detail carries over to the ergonomics. In standard grip position, one’s index finger falls comfortably in the oversized groove. The scales feel grippy yet non-aggressive against your hand. Only when you choke all the way up is there an uncomfortable rubbing between the side of your index finger and the jimping on the flipper tab.

The pocket clip provides adequate friction against the pocket, but it surprisingly not a pocket shredder. Aggressively textured handle scales have a tendency to be tough on your pants, however this is not the case on the 604’s draconic scales.

Outside Reviews:

When it rains, it pours. I managed to find a great text review by Knife Informer, and a YouTube review by Epic Snuggle Bunny.

I would like to thank the folks at WE for their support of our 100 knives in 100 Days giveaway. This is probably one of the top 3 knives I am going to hate to have to send off to the winner. I really like it.
