OFFERING SPECIALLY CURATED CUSTOM & PRODUCTION USA MADE KNIVES FOR YOUR OUTDOOR ADVENTURES

FAQs

  • Knives are noted with the exact type of either Stainless or Carbon steel in their description. Stainless is easier to care for while carbon steel knives will require some additional effort to maintain. Carbon steel will darken with use and patina over time, though left wet or inside the sheath it will rust. Stainless steel can also rust if neglected. After use, we recommend Frog Lube products after cleaning/drying as a steel treatment (Frog Lube Extreme, USDA food grade lubricant). Carbon steel knives will ship with a Frog Lube treatment applied to the blade in most cases.

About

Having the right knife in hand brings exceptional utility and joy to the task. That knife is sharp, fits well in hand, and you’re surprised how little effort and pressure it takes to cut. We’re grateful to work with a core assemblage of recognized and celebrated American makers who incorporate both use and purpose along with their signature designs. You can see their work featured in knife magazines and media.

Being in Hawaii, we honor the land (‘Āina) with materials which can be found in the islands such as native Koa wood and Mango. Knives made with island wood are featured atop a custom made Hawaiian Kapa cloth. Additionally, we work with makers to offer other performance materials such as Micarta, G10 and Carbon Fiber. We hope you will find our selections functionally and aesthetically pleasing edged tools.

We chose the Axis deer for our symbol. It is the largest terrestrial game animal in Hawaii (excepting the occasional feral cattle), with majestic antlers, spotted pelt and prized meat. For many hunters, a trip to Hawaii with a local outfitter to hunt the Axis deer or other quarry is a lifelong dream.

Our obsession with quality outdoor knives started with finding Curt Thompson’s sublime Wenaha model. He’s been instrumental to introducing me to many of the makers featured here on Aloha Blade. Mahalo, Curt!
