Tang [Folding Knife]

The flat un-sharpened area of a folding knife’s blade where it pivots in the handle. This area is usually stamped with the maker’s information. Note: On a fixed-blade knife the unsharpened area where the blade meets the guard and/or the handle is called the “ricasso.” The tang of a fixed-blade knife is the part inside the handle.
