KnifeNews: Ostap Hel Follows in Footsteps of Poltergeist Works with Integral Spine Perix

Ostap Hel just doesn’t let up. The one-man design juggernaut just revealed another incoming model, a mere week after talking to us about the Ququ, his collaboration with Bestech co-owner Solina’s daughter. This one is for Real Steel, it’s called the Perix, and it brings the company’s “intregral spine” design concept into a new model line.

The Sacra came from another prolific young designer, Jakub Wieczorkiewicz, AKA Poltergeist Works. The integral spine concept was simple: instead of two separate liners and a backspacer piece, the integral spine combines these three elements into a single piece of folded steel. It’s a cool idea that will appeal to gear geeks, and reduces the amount of separate pieces in the construction of the knife, which is always a good thing.

Now Ostap Hel has taken a crack at the integral spine concept with the Perix. Despite the mechanical fireworks the knife is, at heart, a working everyday carry.

He is a prolific fellow to be sure.
