I must say that the knife exudes “Cold Steel” in every way. GSM seems to be doing a good job carrying on Lynn Thompson’s legacy, and this knife is the perfect example of that.

Cold Steel “Pushes the Edge” with the New Mayhem Folding Knife

David Andersen has been lobbying the production companies to produce affordable competition chopper for Bladesports. Cold Steel has partnered with 2022 Champion Jimislash (Josh Balay) to finally bring one to market.

  1. i’d like to see a breakdown of where their different models are manufactured.
    they were perhaps the first stabby tanto stuff i’d ever seen. as a kid it seemed impressive in a basdass way. i had the same reaction when i saw hk pistols at first. i’ve never owned either.
    lynn was sort of abrasive, which isn’t always bad, but his san mai nonsense was just that.

    1. Cold Steel is primarily produced in the bastion of Formosa, aka Taiwan. They have collaborated with Italy’s Maniago Group. Aside from Lynn Thompson, there appears to some stability in the new management of GSM.

        1. I like the autos from Maniago! The first knife I ever owned at 13 years old was an Italian auto with celluloid scales.

  2. I am a huge Cold Steel fan, especially fascinated by their marketing over the years. Two years ago I helped sell about three hundred factory and custom knives for a friend who owned a gun shop in my city. He had numerous Cold Steel knives, I was surprised how collectable and expensive some of the early specialty knives were. They sold very fast.

    This Mayhem looks like a beast to hold, I guess that weight is necessary to fit into the “Chopper” category.

    My daily carry has some weight as well, it is the Cold Steel AD15. I absolutely love this knife, the only negative so far is the lack of a back-bar, I may be able to remedy this.

    1. The anchor of my knife arsenal is the “4 Max Scout” . . . It has been in my peddler bag for months; BUT, when I show it to someone and they hold it . . . my brain says, “Give it back!”.

      Enough said.
