Ontario Knife Company’s new for 2023 product announcements just keep coming. OKC gave us our first glimpse at the Besra FXD today. This is a fixed blade modeled on a folder that first came out in 2020.
Like most OKC folders, the Besra was released at a wallet friendly price point. Despite the price it still tried to encompass a lot of big knife trends, like its wharncliffe/cleaver blade and a frame lock flipper setup. And, even with an MSRP around $55, the Besra managed to have that frame lock made from titanium – an unusual touch even with the increasing complexity and quality of the budget knife genre.
Now we have the Besra FXD, which takes that wharnie/cleaver hybrid blade into a non-locking format. The Besra folder was an EDC knife, and despite the change in mechanism here that’s a role the FXD looks ready for as well; it isn’t that much bigger than its predecessor really, with a blade length of 3.25 inches.
Looks sort of like the Dicerox I reviewed a while back, but with a better price and better geometry.
