Weekend Open Thread: Dogwood Winter Edition

Dogwood Winter is here. It happens every year in Tennessee. We get weather in the upper 70s, followed by weather around or below freezing. |It has happened twice this year, with the potential for snow and sleet forecast for this evening. Dogwood Winter was a term that was new to me as a transplant to the South. It made sense as a phenomenon that someone would name. But now the weather-guessers on the news are saying that there are multiple “little winters” with names.

I don’t count any May weather as a winter. Sometimes it is just cool out. Personally, I am just waiting for “The Pollening”.

Agreed.

Not any interesting new memes on last week’s Slap Heard ‘Round the World theme. But apparently Ricky Gervaise had some thoughts.

Savage.

This is definitely a “current event” meme…

I normally have a better segue to the Events Calendar, but I couldn’t come up with a good one.

Only event of note is the ABS Piney Woods Hammer-in.

I stand corrected. Mark Molnar’s show is this weekend, but it escaped the calendar somehow.  Here you go…

There will be more knife shows and AC weather before long.

I have one of the former in my workshop. It was loud before the bearings started to wear down with age/use. Now it rattles so much I have to double the TV volume. It is beat to hell, but it works.

On Wisconsin!

It is Friday actually, which means it is time to draw our first token holder for the Dicerox Lagertha. Stuart B., you are the winner. Must be the good karma from rescuing that person’s phone.

Knife Review: Dicerox Lagertha and Kalina (Updated)

Up to 5 comments or replies on this post are your entries. If you are drawn once you become a “token holder”. Then a second draw wins the knife.

If you are new to the blog you comments will be held in moderation until I can approve them. After I do, your comments will post at will.

The struggle is real. And this just is salt in the wound…

Makes one feel a little empty inside…

Just don’t take it too far…

Not today.

This is my meme of the week…

This was a close second. Not that I would condone such a thing.

I am perfectly comfortable with Metric, having spent enough time in the at least quasi-scientific discipline of physical anthropology, but this is ‘Merica.

Scary. terrifying actually…

This one is a classic.  It came across my Bookface “memories”…

Safety First.

And with that I bid you goodnight.

Have a good one Friends.
