Speaking of this week, nothing to report on our Events Calendar.

We are actually leaving for Cleveland in the morning. It is my mom’s birthday, and I haven’t seen her since Thanksgiving 2019.

      your interpretation is correct, not up there with “fargin’ bastiches”, but then i’m no piscopo.
      if you have not seen it move the documentary “crumb” to the top of your queue. i abandoned my formative years to kitchen sink comics purchased at the local belly button head shop. pretty much that and pinball (magnetron, surf champ, bow and arrow), eight ball was the highest grossing table of all time.
      “the proof is in the pudding, buster” -honey bunch (r. crumb).

  2. Hocky – your response this week to the thread on the Cold Steel Black Fly showed the true measure of the man, such a great contrast to the flippant bickering that plagues the webs. You are a true ‘Gent’. Forgive us our sins, but some of us do enjoy the budget end of the knife world too.

    CMEAT – I’ve been running my “Ultra” machine for a few hours trying to decipher your comments, not much luck, but apparently ‘the water pumps have failed on Midway’

    Meanwhile in the garden; the rats ate most of my pickles, but just about to pull the beets. Tomatoes are on their way.

    1. only too happy to decipher my ‘cipherin’; not sure where you’re havin’ difficulty. quite possibly not worth your effort but it all means sumptin’.
      the vaults at midway airport are armed with cardox so no sprinkler pumps needed. it can take your breath away.

  3. Clay-I looked fast and thought your knives were stuck in a rock wall!
    I thought-“he can throw knives into a rock wall? Impressive! I pity the boys when his daughter starts dating. Who needs to be cleaning a shotgun when they arrive when he can be out front throwing knives into rocks!”
    Pretty garden! Mine’s dialed back from last year. Tomatoes are just starting to ripen. The weather here has been odd. Snowmageden delayed planting. Ended up with 38 jars of pickles.
    Okra is starting to produce. My lovely wife is pickling them as they arrive.. Son and daughter-in-law will be in town next week, she loves pickled okra
    .
    Speaking of hot-anyone seen Jason? I figure he’s either melted or reaping copious amounts of cash-cold beer on a hot day should make for good business.

  4. those garden shots make me salad crave. saw cosby two years in a row mid seventies at the mill run “theatre in the round” revolving stage (gone now). bill withers (i had a “lean on me” 45) opened first year, jose feliciano (“chico and the man” came out that year) the second. that man one funny sungbidge, clean and family friendly- how many of those were there? he was savin’ up those cheap laughs for some real horror.
    america had a solid run; saw asia at the auditorium theatre, big overlap between the prog rock winding down (that band was a giant swansong) and punk rompin’ everything’s ass. bland show, incredible venue.
    i’ve been sportin’ my skyline lately, man can i get that 14 28 sharp. fine u.s. made design, natch discontinued.
    as far as “extremist content” goes, the only social media i tried was some pevasive local “neighbor nextdoor” type crap, got booted after about five comments; “are you sure you want to post that?”
    since second city cop got chased offline (he posts at “the contrarian” now), the best digest for near reality (there’s conjecture, but it’s my echo chamber) is still the ace of spades blog.
    i’m on day 13 of a sixteen piece, the only reason the run doesn’t go 19 is i took wednesday off to do some downrigging on lake michigan. chinook, coho, steelhead (and scamania), brownies and, hopefully lake trout. the polychlorinated biphenys and mercury are in the fat layer. yum.

  5. Clay: Please give the hat to another knife enthusiast. I usually wear a “Submarine” (e.g. USS George Bancroft SSBBN643) baseball-style hat in the F150 when going places. My father-in-law, Glenn (EMCM(SS) Ret,.USS Ray SSN653 ), just sent me a neat “u.S. SUBMARINE FORCE / VETERAN” hat. The “silver dolphins” on the crest are brilliant in the sun . . . I like your SOG’s. Not my thing to throw knives, but I understand the “Phun” in doing it. I am in awe of your garden. You must have wild vegan critters to warrant that tall fence. The “Braveheart” me-me is hilarious! Put on some Springsteen and be happy to be in “The USA”!
