After leaving C. Platts’ Sons Cutlery Company, Charlie, Joe, and Frank Platts opened a factory in Andover, New York. The factory was in operation only for a few years, when the brothers sold the firm to Clay Jordan of St. Louis, Missouri. The company was renamed Clay Cutlery Company at that time.
