British bespoke bladesmith Marc Zabroski has risen to the very top of his craft with his modern output of smart designs for hunting and utility knives, executed with real artistry. While seeking a worthy knife-making partner for Westley Richards, our M.D., Trigger (Anthony Alborough-Tregear), considered the merits of all the top makers from the UK, the US and further abroad.
A keen knife collector himself, Trigger has a degree of expertise in the appreciation of handmade blades and the suitability of different sizes, shapes and weights for different sporting applications.
Getting the balance right between quality, finesse and durability was a key issue when considering the range of knives we should offer, and exclusivity was non-negotiable. Westley Richards is not a firm content to put its name to a standard issue product and pass it off as its own.
We trialled the concept in 2024 with a limited run of five Zabroski-made Westley Richards stalking knives, which sold out mere days after launch. Now, we are about to follow that with the release of three knife styles made exclusively for Westley Richards, representing the sole annual output of hand-made knives by Marc Zabroski.
I was not sure about sharing this one. Westley Richards is a high-end field-wear and hunting outfitter in England. Think Orvis on steroids. They have released a series of bespoke hunting knives, which are lovely, if pricey.
This is from their in-house blog. In the end I decided to include it because the photography is great.
