National Pike Knife Club

May 2 @ 3:55 am EDT

The National Pike Knife Club in Southeast Ohio was chartered in 1999 with 28 members. Our members meet monthly to share information on knife collecting.

We meet the second Sunday of every month at the Rotarian Center in St. Clairsville. We average 34 to 45 members per meeting. Prior to every meeting which is called to order by the president at 2:00 P.M., a meal is served and the members buy, sell and trade cutlery.

When order is called, the Pledge of Allegiance is recited, and then we have the treasurers report, cover old and new business, legislative, educational, and investments pertaining to cutlery. After all articles are covered the meeting is ended.
Chances are sold for a knife raffle during the meal and the meeting. The ticket is drawn at the end of the meeting. Also chances are taken on a quarterly 50-50 drawing.
The meals are provided by at least two volunteers for each meeting, except for the September and December meetings. September is when we have our annual picnic. The club provides meat and drinks and members provide covered dishes. The December meeting is when we have our Christmas meal which is provided by the club.
An annual club knife is selected by the membership. Club knives cost anywhere from $5.00 – $100.00 per knife.
In April the club has an annual knife show. The club also sells chances on a display case of knives, a gold coin, and a Longenburger Basket every year during the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival.
Membership dues are a $10.00 per year for a single membership and $15.00 for a family membership. They are $5.00 for juniors ages 17 and under. Life membership is an annual $100.00 and $150.00 for a family membership.
The club also has a monthly news letter which is mailed to members. The club has donated thousands of dollars raised to benefit charity causes.
