When it comes to folding hunting knives, I’ve usually been a fan of Buck knives—specifically, my Buck 110 that I’ve had for years of chasing bucks and ducks and bears and anything else here that’s legal game in the northeast. But a few years back, that Buck 110 went missing in my waterfowl gear bag, so I tried some other folders. My favorite on that list was the Victorinox Hunter Pro Alox.
Most outdoorsmen know the Victorinox name from their Swiss army knife series. You know what I’m talking about; the red-handle folders that come with a non-locking blade or two, a pair of scissors, a can opener, a bottle opener, and/or assorted other miniaturized gadgets that can prove quite useful in a pinch (my own Swiss army knife, a Camper model, sits in my camp stove bag as a just-in-case backup).
I really like the Alox scales on knives other than the standard lozenge shape, those I still prefer red plastic
