    1. Hocky-You surprised me! Yes, it’s over the top to baton a SAK: but it’s DBK and over the top is what they do.
      Besides, this video is a great example of the problem with some cheap Chinese knock offs. Now, I agree the battening a folding knife isn’t the smartest thing one can do! (Better to use the knife blade to make a wedge and the saw to cut a groove to insert the wedge.) But, the SAK survived where the knockoff did not. The build quality just wasn’t there.
      There is a known quantity with the SAK, with a knockoff, not so much.

        1. Don’t lose your humor Hocky, recharge and have some fun, fill that peddler bag!
          Got a great NHL series coming up with Dallas playing against Edmonton. Oilers vs Stars! Dallas advanced beating the Jets last night!
          It would be amazing to attend a game in Dallas, their fans would put a smile on your face! Hard core is an understatement! Edmonton fans are up there too, should be a fun series.
          I’m expecting it to go at least six, if not the full 7 games!

          1. Del- North Texas has gone hockey (small h) crazy these past few weeks. People are wearing Stars sweaters with temps in the 90’s! Overtime last night-phenomenal goal keeping at each end. Quite a game! Should be a great series. My fingers are crossed. However, the Stars have broken my heart too many times for me to be anything other than cautiously optimistic!

          2. Recharging is what I am doing, Del. Good advice. I’ve been “working the estate” between the every-other-day rain. Our region is at a rain deficit of about 6 inches since January 1st. We are now at a minus-2.5 inches and that is a good thing. Moving earth and sculpting the landscape is labor that I enjoy. “Barney” was in the hospital last week for three days. He went home on Saturday and is feeling good. Basically, he dehydrated and since he is nearing “88” (August birthday), he needs to recognize that drinking water is necessary even when he does not feel thirsty. (I get busy working outside and don’t stop to refresh myself with some shade and a pint of H2O!). My great friend, “Ron”, is scheduled for a hip replacement in June. He is an active hiker, cycler and swimmer and has been miserable for more than a year. I am preparing for the Bill Moran “100th Birthday” celebration on May 31st. Steve Nuckels and many other bladesmiths will be demonstrating forging, grinding and handle making all day. On June 14th, the “1st Annual Knife and Artisan” show will be held at the Middletown Fire Hall. This “Moran Foundation” event will feature custom forged and custom stock removal knives (No production knives). The artisan aspect of the event runs the spectrum of walking sticks, artwork and other hand-crafted items. This should be a fun affair!
            Well, I need to put on my “outdoor, digging in the dirt” clothes.
