  1. “WOT Update” . . . I am using this “NEWSFEED” item for my update because it has “FORGING” in its title. On Saturday, Sept. 20th, the “Bill Moran Museum & Foundation” held its monthly meeting at the “William F. Moran Bladesmithing & Artisan Academy”. Ed Clarke, JS/ABS, presented a seminar on “hidden tangs”. Several of the attendees showed their knives which will be for sale at the “Bill Moran 10th Annual All-Forged Knife Show” on October 18, 2025 at the Middletown Fire Hall in Middletown, Maryland.
    After the meeting, I went to the “Blacksmith Guild of Western Maryland (BGWM)” on Mousetown Road, Boonsboro, Maryland. Please visit http://www.blacksmithguildofwesternmaryland.org to learn more about this growing organization of blacksmiths, bladesmiths, and enthusiasts. Like the “Moran Foundation”, the “BGWM” is a teaching organization. This “Open House” at “BGWM” was eventful as I met Robert Eggerling, http://www.eggerlingdamascus.com; and, famously known as the inventor of mosaic Damascus. He lives in Mertztown, PA. Interestingly, he donated a uniquely configured forged 15N20 knife to the “Iron in the Hat” drawing. I bought 22 tickets for $20 and stuffed the numbered red Solo cup to win the knife . . . I didn’t. However, Mr. Eggerling and I talked a bit; and, he and I will be in contact soon to discuss the availability of a similiar knife.
    As usual at these open forge events, there is show ‘n’ tell. I had my peddler bag with me and took four custom fixed blades from it to show. I did not expect to sell all four to one person after a short negotiation! This lady paid me with “Benjamins”. Alrighty!!
    On the horizon are the October knife shows. I have a table at the “Mason Dixon Knife Club” show, October 4th, at the “State Line Ruritan Club”, State Line, PA. On Saturday, 10/11, I will be at the Hagerstown Fairgrounds “Community Yard Sale”, Horse Stall #4. This is my fifth time at the “Fairgrounds”. My fee of $20/stall has given me a significant return-on-investment; and, I have gained a following of knife enthusiasts who appreciate my “Made in America” philosophy!! Of course, the “Moran Show” on October 18th caps the month.
