Located in Sheffield, England, Benjamin J. Eyre purchased William Greaves & Son in 1850. The factory was at the Sheaf Works.
Eyre Ward & Company was an import agency, in New York City from 1852-1857. This was a partnership between Benjamin J. Eyre and Aslim Ward. In 1858, the partnership was dissolved, and each partner opened a cutlery outlet at 100 Beekman Street.
In 1876, the Eyre firm was sold to F. Wiebusch, an import firm in New York City. This company manufactured “Bowie” type knives, among other kinds of cutlery.
