This firm was founded by Edward Katzinger, and has always been in Chicago, Illinois. They made all types of cutlery, and also imported knives from Germany. In 1935, they acquired the Geneva Forge Cutlery. They changed the name to Geneva Forge, and made all types of cutlery under the trademark “EKCO.”
By 1945, Lee B. Thomas was president of the firm. In 1960, the forge in Geneva was closed and the plant moved to Chicago. EKCO brand tableware is still being made. In 1948, pocket cutlery was discontinued.
