A Sheffield cutler, Fred James made many “Bowie” type knives with this marking, and with the “James & Lowe” marking. He also had access to antique etching plates old knife parts, and die-stamps usually IXL Wostenholm. Many of these “old” knives were shipped to the United States and traded as originals but these knives are FAKES.
