This company can trace it beginnings back to 1818 when Henry Harrington made butcher knives near Worcester, Massachusetts. They have been in Southbridge, Massachusetts since the 1800s.
Dexter Harrington, a son, took over the firm in 1861. The name was changed in 1882 to Dexter Harrington & Son, and continued under this name until 1902 when they were incorporated as the Harrington Cutlery Company. Harrington was a maker of all types of fixed blade knives.
In 1935, they merged with the John Russell Company forming Russell-Harrington Company and are still in business under that name.
