The Hemming Brothers Company was at 205 River Street, New Haven, Connecticut. Carl Hemming had formerly operated the Eagle Pocket Knife Company in New Haven. It was sold to the Winchester Arms Company in 1919. In addition to making pocket knives, the Hemmings invented and manufactured the machinery for the automatic grinding and polishing of knife blades.
