This firm originated as the Kane Cutlery Company. The Hollingsworth Knife Company was incorporated in 1914 with capital of $50,000. Makers of “Honest Brand” pocket knives, H.W. Sweely, W.W. McDade, James McDade, Harry Hollingsworth, and R.A. Hill were the incorporators.
Harry H. Hollingsworth was superintendent of the plant. He had experience with Dwight Divine & Sons, the Ulster Knife Company, and later with the Walden Knife Company of Walden, New York where he became general manager. After leaving Walden, he purchased the Kane Cutlery Company.
In 1914, Herbert Taylor was brought in from the Schrade Knife Works, Walden New York to take charge of the grinding and finishing departments. In 1917, A.C. Penn Inc. announced that they would handle the entire output of the Hollingsworth plant. Penn was a distributor in New York City. They continued until 1930 when the name was changed to the Albertson Company.
