“Hugo’s Victor” is stamped on the front of the tang. This firm first appears in the Omaha, Nebraska city directory in 1887, under “barber supplies.” M. Hugo Melchior was born in France, and came to Omaha about 1886. Melchior Brothers was at 1114 and 1116 Farnam Street in 1892.
The main offices were in Chicago, Illinois. They carried a complete line of barber supplies. Hugo Melchior retired about 1930, and Rudolph Melchior (his son?) continued the business until 1939, the last year they are listed in the city directory.
