Founded in 1848 as the Jacob Wiss Cutlery Company. They were at 26 Bank Street, Newark, New Jersey. They originally made shears and scissors, but by 1852, added straight razors to their line. Pocket knives were being made by 1879, maybe earlier. About 1885, they became J. Wiss & Sons.
In 1969, Wiss purchased Boker USA, and in 1978 became a part of the Cooper Group. They are still in business with the main offices in Apex, North Carolina.
