On one side of the handle, “Novelty” is marked on the other side. One knife seen is marked “Pat Sept. 9, 1902.”
This knife was made on the patent of Isaac W. Heysinger of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The blade opens by gravity. By removing a screw or rivet located at the open end of the blade slot, the blades can be changed. Which makes this a re-blade type knife, also. It is the first gravity opener patented in the U.S.
