We are almost across the 2025 finish line boys and girls, and DCA’s annual look back is always an interesting watch.

What was your favorite new 2025 knife?

Mine didn’t make David’s list, the Buck Range. I really think this USA made EDC is a legitimate Bugout alternative, and I have carried it a lot this year.

  1. This article raised a question: “What was the source of the sales data?”. I pondered this for a bit . . . I figure that it is most likely “Knife Center” sales data. That possibility makes sense as six or seven of the top ten “best sellers” are “PRC-manufactured” knives. All of these knives are manufactured at Yangjiang, People’s Republic of China (“PRC”): CRKT has two: the “4200” and the “Mimimalist”; Kizer has the “Drop Bear”; Civivi the “Buster FG” andl there is the “Roxon Flex”. First place goes to Andersen’s “”Maximal” by CJRB which is a subsidiary of Artisan (“PRC”). Yangjiang has thousands of cookie-cutter knife companies stamping out millions of knife parts. Robots operate the water-jets, CNC and lasers. The “Maximal” retails for around $50 USD. Its manufacturing cost is approximately $3.00 USD. Packaging, shipping and handling adds cost as do import fees (aka tariffs). Ultimately, the “PRC” regime gets a significant influx of money to support their goal of destroying American manufacturing of all types, not only “Made in USA” knife companies.
    So, this Christmas shopping season, I ask Americans to buy “Made in the USA” knives. There are a number of companies which make folders like the “Maximal” which sell for less than $100 USD. Please consider our custom knife makers too. Look at America’s allies like Taiwan, Japan, Italy, Australia and NATO nations. Look to Switzerland (“Victorinox”) and Sweden (“Morakniv”).
