Later this month will see the release of the Jack Wolf Knives Gunstock. This is the most faithful iteration of the popular traditional knife pattern that Jack Wolf has produced yet.
You have to appreciate the etymology of the Gunstock. Sometimes traditional knives take their names from obscure tidbits of history, like the Wharncliffe, or from some of the…less savory aspects of the working man’s life (spey blade anyone?), but the when they named this pattern, they looked at it and said, “It looks like the stock of a gun. Let’s call it the Gunstock.” Done and dusted. Jack Wolf has certainly operated in the Gunstockian space before, specifically with the Gunslinger Jack, but this is the first time they’ve not rechristened the pattern, or really, tweaked it much at all – other than the usual high Jack Wolf polish and quirky, cool material choices.
It is a good looking knife. I have been corresponding with them for a couple of years, but had my first good look at the knives at Blade Show last June. Really exceptional fit and finish.
