New from Ostap Hel and Bestech is the incoming Duoz. Hel is always trying new things and the Duoz looks like a fusion between a fillet knife and an everyday carry flipper.
To be clear, the fillet knife vibe is just that, a vibe. Like all Ostap Hel folders, the Duoz is clearly meant to go into the pocket and tackle day-to-day cutting chores, not prepare fish for the fryer. The sweeping, slender trailing point blade brings that maritime pattern to mind, but the compound grind screams modern user – as does the steel, 14C28N stainless, entry-level stuff that still manages to find favor with the enthusiasts thanks to its balanced, reasonable characteristics.
Ostap’s designs are everywhere. Kinda crazy that this and the Civivi Purr are both his designs this year.
