KnifeNews: We Knife Co. Hawks Its Wares with the Tiercel

The new We Knife Co. Tiercel is named after a falcon, and this is a case where the name lines up perfectly with the look of the piece. The Tiercel flaunts a talon-like wharnie blade made to pierce and slice.

One cultivates such a rich vocabulary in covering knives. We didn’t know before today, for instance, that a “tiercel” is a kind of hawk or falcon, but now we do – and we can see how the team settled on that name with a single glance at this folder’s blade. It’s a 3.24-inch wharncliffe, opened via cutout or clipper tab, and it delivers the classic wharncliffe formula: a long straight edge, and a low but very acute point; no modifications to the time-tested pattern here.

Has a definite Leek look to it, though the large opening hole is well more than enough to clear the “derivative” bar. It is hard to find a design that doesn’t look like something else.
