I wish I were important enough for Spyderco to send me one of these. I did get to see it at Blade Show and man is it a gorgeous knife. Time Stetzer is working on a piece about it, and Spydie’s 50th Anny for the print magazine.

 

I will never have the ultimate Native collection unless I somehow come across one of these aftermarket.

I bought five fixed-blade knives at the “2nd Annual Bill Moran Artisan Show” on Saturday, June 20th at the Middletown Fire Hall venue: (1) “Steve Nuckels” stainless Damascus-blade with yellow cedar scales ($300); (2) “Jake Cook” AEB-L blade with scalloped copper scales ($370); (3) “Tim Potier”, MS/ABS, 15N20 spearpoint blade with amboyna heartwood scales ($300) (4) “Logan Cole” (16 years of age) 1084-blade with desert ironwood scales ($100); (5) “Noah Beavers” (17 years of age) Damascus-blade with stag scales ($290). All of these knives have a blade length of less than three inches . . . Hocky humor! I deem this event to be a success for all those who participated. I greatly enjoyed supporting the knifemakers and the myriad artisans whose work ranged from pottery, wood carving, leathercraft, metalwork and onto homemade soaps, macrame, and paintings. Bill Moran was smiling big time from up above the fire hall!
    Tim Potier is currently instructing an “Introduction to Bladesmithing” class at the “Bill Moran Bladesmithing Academy” in Middletown. Rudy Dean, JS/ABS, manned his table at the show. E Jay Hendrickson, MS/ABS, displayed his new line of “Nessmuk” knives. I was tempted to buy one of these . . . however, I bought “Steve Nuckels” carved ash walking stick with its elk antler topper. Had to own it! The two young(er) knifemakers: Logan Cole and Noah Beavers are creating distinctive knives. Both of them have several years of experience and their membership at the “Moran Foundation” gives them opportunity to learn from the many “older” bladesmiths. Each of them is crafting a custom leather sheath for the knives which I bought from them.
    Regarding the “50th Anniversary Native”, the orange bone is attractive. I carry my “Lil Native-Wharncliffe” everyday.
