Although the UK Penknife was originally made to confirm to (then) changing knifelaws in the UK, the model has proven popular all over the world. It is a very travel-friendly folder, and a rustproof Salt version makes it just a perfect Summer EDC. Take it to the city or the beach, and it’ll perform great in any environment. It also doesn’t hurt that the C94 is just a great functional pocket knife, and you don’t miss the lock.

I know nothing about “Spydercollector” other than he has managed to create the kind of brand-specific following that many would only dream of.

  1. I highly prize my “Spyderco” knives. My long-time carry was the “Dragonfly 2 Wharnie”. Now I carry the “Lil Native Wharnie” (The compression lock was the deciding factor on this change) I have two “Native 5”: A “Salt w/MagnaCut” and a blue-handled one in LC200N. Both were bought at pawnshops over the past year for very little money. I am hanging onto them . . . I am thinking of gifting them to family or friends who will appreciate them. Like “Del” I use a “knife steel” and then a ceramic rod to hone my personal carry knives. My heavy use outdoor knives are sharpened (“touched up”) after each use on an oilstone and/or an Arkansas stone. Gee, I went off on a tangent . . . Recently, I have been doing quite a bit of laboring around the homestead. Using a mattock to dig out limestone rocks and cut tree roots where I am landscaping. Those ancient limestone rocks wreck havoc on a mattock blade! An 80-pounder rolled the edge on my digging iron! Used my angle grinder to reset the business end on it. Never surrender, Never give up!

  2. Everyone needs at least one Spyderco knife, I love my Salt model, so cool to clip it on your paddleboard and have a great knife handy for any emergency!

    My first Spyderco product was the triangular ceramic cross-sticks they made for knife sharpening, the guy who taught me to make knives would take his set out whenever he had a challenging blade to sharpen, I followed suit!
