Hey there everyone. It is Weekend Open Thread time, and it is going to be a blast.
As I mentioned last week, it was hard to take a pass on what was one of the greatest potential meme themes ever last week when I deemed the cat-eating memes too inherently political to be within the boundaries of this post.
However, anyone who has been reading the WOT since last October knows that I have taken a short section of the post each week to call for the Israeli hostages to be released, and for Hamas to either exiled or destroyed. However, when events have warranted (see Weekend Open Thread: Revenge of Eli Copter), and have comedic value, I have used it as the theme.
I am doing so again tonight, because, honestly, what is funnier than terrorist operatives having their junk blown off by exploding pagers.
This video shows just how incredibly targeted these attacks were. In most cases, bystanders were unharmed.
WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT – Lebanon’s health ministry said at least eight people had been killed and more than 2,800 injured after pagers detonated across the country. The killed and injured include members of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah https://t.co/XNWSgH858t pic.twitter.com/I0WhQFsgFw

There is an uncomfirmed, viral report, of a young girl who may have been killed when handing the beeping pager to her father. To which one asks the question…
The Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon was also wounded. Same question applies.
Paragraph 2 of Article 52 of the Geneva Conventions is absolutely clear on this point. The attack was valid under international law…
What is a human rights violation is the indiscriminate missile fire from Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, which recently killed 12 Druze children who were playing soccer. 100,000 Israelis have been exiled from their homes in northern Israel since October 7th. Almost a year. The same year that the hostages have been held in an underground hell.
Imagine if San Diego had to be abandoned because of rocket fire from Tijuana.
I would have to do the math, but I believe that scales in terms of our respective countries’ populations. It is not a tenable situation.
Even if someone were to stipulate that the palestinians in Gaza have a point, which I don’t since you can’t “decolonize” Jews from an area they have lived for more than 2000 years, there is no such land dispute on Israel’s northern border with Lebanon.
They simply want to eradicate the Jews. Which they openly state if one simply takes them at their word.
According to UN Resolutions following the 2006 war in southern Lebanon, Hezbollah is not even supposed to be south of the Litani River, an area that Israel is currently striking with artillery and airstrikes.
One of those killed in an airstrike today was Ibrahim Aqil, who was behind the US Embassy bombing in 1983.
So I feel no moral ambiguity in laughing at the memes this week. Nor should you.
This operation, which the internet has dubbed “Operation Grim Beeper”, has left Hezbollah few options for communication..
They might be better off with this…
They better hope that those don’t get compromised too.
So today we were all like…
Want it to stop? Bring them home Now!
It’s that simple.
Unfortunately, it isn’t Knife Show Season, at
Want to take your mind off the expanding conflagration in the middle east? Unfortunately, there are no knife shows this weekend. But there is a trio of them next weekend…
Wolverine Knife Collector’s Club (WKCC) State Line Knife Show
Ignore the 2022 date from the embed. I confirmed it is next weekend.
Lost in all the news this week was the figurative blow up between Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrel and guitarist Dave Navarro who came to blows during a concert last week.
I am not a massive fan of the band, though I respect Navarro’s guitar playing. And Jane Says is a phenomenal song, squarely a part of my personal High School soundtrack, and seldom skipped today when it cycles through my playlist.
Navarro took the situation in stride…
In other current/topical memes…
Still a good boi.
I heart college football.
But there is more to life than college football. Like the NFL…
My Clowns managed to pull off a win last weekend…
I no longer watch MLB, but I am in awe of the season Ohtani has been having.
I am glad I haven’t played fantasy baseball in more than 2 decades…
Even with all the memes flying around this week, this random one managed to break through and go viral…
A reminder that this all started when they shot Harambe…
He was the hero we didn’t deserve…
Brings a tear to one’s eye.
What better way to be cheered up than a knife giveaway. Our winner this week in our CRKT Ceo Flipper drawing is Dan Quest. Congrats friend.
Next week the winner gets their choice of a Browning Sage Creek (small) or a Primal 6 piece deer processing kit, right in time for hunting season.
Usual rules apply, up to 5 comments or replies are your entries. If you are new to the blog, your first comments will be held in moderation until I can approve the first batch. But your first week’s comments count double, so you’ve got that going for you.
I will even give you a topic to start…
We have a load of non-themed memes for you tonight, so buckle up…
Shut up and take my money.
There are actually only two types of people. Those that can extrapolate from incomplete information.
Rabbits are kinda cool. But not as cool as otters…
Cats don’t narc.
Shhh. I wasn’t even here.
Yikes.
Shots fired.
Minor distraction.
Ingenious.
I actually chuckled at that.
Have they not seen Footloose?
Justifiably terrified.
Didn’t Count on that.
I agree.
Make up your mind people.
I agree with the cat.
Get off my lawn.
Been Caught Stealing is probably their most well known song, but doesn’t hold the same memories for me as Jane Says.
Laughing through the fall of western civilization.
Soon, I won’t even need the phone..
But I am resigned to my fate…
It is ok though…
Boom. Gotcha.
Have a good weekend everyone.
