8th Annual Texas Custom Knife Show 2025 Press Release
Saturday and Sunday November 8th and 9th are the dates set for the 8th Annual Texas Custom Knife Show. The show will be held indoor at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Conroe, Texas just 22 miles north of downtown Houston. Show hours scheduled for 9am to 4pm. More than 75 exhibitors will offer custom knives for sale and vie for awards in multiple categories including best tomahawk, bowie, folding knife, all manner of fixed blade knives and for the first time an Open Class Award. The Open Class Award answers the demand by makers and fans alike to recognize larger and more unique edged weapons. Attendee participation events including Tomahawk throwing, a “Make it and Take it” experience and a sporting competition utilizing everyday carry knives. The show will also benefit the Operation Red Wings Foundation.
Jay Nielson, host of the original Forged in Fire television show will be hosting a Q&A session so fans can ask questions about the contest experience and learn more about how the knives were made. Nielson will also judge the Texas Custom Knife Show Battle of the Blades. A cast of 4, star makers have been chosen to compete. Just 2 weeks prior to the event contestants will be informed of the rules and parameters by which the knives must conform. Nielson will judge and physically test each knife in dramatic fashion live at the show for strength, dexterity, style and cutting ability.
The ‘Make It and Take It’ booth offers attendees an opportunity to make a souvenir blade under the direction of a hosting smith. Anyone can sign up and choose from 4 different styles of knives for them to create at the show. The new blade sport to be introduced will consist of a timed obstacle course offering a series of challenges many of which have not been tried before. Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the competition is that instead of featuring specialized “cutting contest” blades entrants will be limited to using their everyday carry knives.
Anyone familiar or wants to know more about the harrowing tale of Operation Red Wings, the book Lone Survivor or movie of the same name will want to visit the Operation Red Wings Foundation booth. The Foundation was inspired by the extraordinary bravery and sacrifice displayed by 4 Navy Seals including native Texan Marcus Luttrell during the War in Afghanistan, June 28, 2005. The 2025 Texas Custom Knife is the last independent knife show of the year in the Lone Star state.
