Charles Woodworth and his son Fred founded this business in 1878. In 1886, Fred Woodworth bought his father’s interest, and moved it into an old building which had previously been used as a tannery. Later, he built a new two-story brick factory.
Fred had four brothers, George, Clayton, Clarence, and Albert, all of which worked in the knife factory. Thisy manufactured butcher, paring and table knives, but they also sold pocket knives and straight razors.
