ROBERT KLAAS

This firm was founded in Germany about 1834. In 1896, Max Klaas opened an office at 298 Broadway, New York City. Klaas acted as an importer for the manufacturing plant in Germany. The name of the New York office was the Max Klaas Company. By 1907, the address in New York was 292 Broadway, but by 1914 it was once again 298 Broadway. By 1940, the firm was no longer in existence, at least under the name Max Klaas Company.

The Metropolitan Cutlery Company at 33 West 34th Street was the registered owner of the Crane Brand trademark. Emil Goldman was the owner of Metropolitan.
