Press Release: The James Brand Launches The Wells

PORTLAND, OR (August 29, 2023) — The James Brand – makers of modern, minimal, everyday carry products – announced today the launch of its first true flipper design, The Wells. A testament to the dedication to blending form and function seamlessly, The Wells is proudly designed, machined, and built in the USA and embodies versatility and durability in every detail.

Named after the Wells projectile point found in Cherokee County, Texas, The Wells features a Wharncliffe-style blade made from Magnacut Steel for corrosion resistance and toughness cased in aerospace-grade heat treated aluminum. The back flipper design with button lock offers fast deployment, one-handed operation, and epic fidget factor. Constructed with stainless steel caged ball bearings with steel washers to maintain smooth action for a lifetime. The addition of a minimalist stainless steel formed wire clip seamlessly slips in and out of the pocket for ease of access.

The Wells (MSRP $425) is available now at www.thejamesbrand.com and at select specialty retailers across the globe.

About The James Brand:

The James Brand was created in Portland, Oregon, in 2012 by a group of designers and adventurers who were looking to make something better. Based on the adage that if you can’t find what you want, you might have to make it yourself, we decided to put pen to paper and design something new: knives and everyday carry gear made with premium materials, a minimalist design aesthetic and clear attention to the details. We make modern things that are a better reflection of our values and lives. Modern, minimal everyday carry is what The James Brand is all about. James Brand’s outside marketing folks reached out to us for this one.  I am hoping that this signals a shift in strategy which sees them engage more actively with the knife community. To this point, they have managed to carve out a niche by engaging directly with their target consumers, which trend younger and more urban than the bulk of the community. I would love if they would come to SHOT or especially Blade Show. For a host of reasons including broadening their own appeal, and drawing their fanbase into the fold.

I appreciate the fact they are including premium materials such as Magnacut. $425 might be a bit steep for an imported EDC.
