I learned early on at KNIFE that the Oregon Knife Collector Association show is among Mark’s favorites. He makes the trip (almost) every year.

Friday is Member Only Day, but it is open Saturday and Sunday to the public.

H. Clay Aalders is a lifelong edged tool user. He spent the past 20 years as a woodworker and fishing guide in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Idaho, and Tennessee. While guiding in Idaho, Clay worked part-time writing for a local newspaper, and upon moving to Tennessee began writing for the blog The Truth About Knives - spending his last 5 years there as Managing Editor. His background is in fixed-blade hunting and bushcraft knives, but has jumped into the world of vintage slipjoint collecting with both feet since coming to work at Knife Magazine. Clay’s primary role is as Digital Editor, curating and creating new content for our website and blog, as well as maintaining the Knife Magazine social media accounts (FB/IG: @theknifemag, Twitter: @knifemagazine). He is also a contributor and Associate Editor of the print magazine.

  1. Would be great to see you in this neck of the woods Hocky, will give you a holler soon to say hello. been busy with projects, as well as a huge kitchen renovation, weird how one month morphs into two and the kitchen project kind of migrated down every hall that is close!

  2. The local knife show was on Saturday, April 11th, at the “Hagerstown Fairgrounds”. Opened at 0700 hours . . . That would be 0400 hours in Eugene, OR. I would like to attend the “Oregon Knife Show”. When I do, I plan to travel to Kamloops, BC, Canada and visit Del Corsi. This was my third year at the “Hagerstown Fairgrounds Community Yard Sale”. “Horse Stall No. 4” is my traditional 12′ x 20′ space for $20. My knife table is in the rear . . . I funnel people inward for security purposes. One kid tried to sneak a “GERBER” folder into his pocket. My eyes met his “Did you catch me?” expression . . . I sold knives of every genre. Most of my factory made knives are “Made in U.S.A.”; or, from countries friendly to America like Taiwan, Japan, Switzerland, Germany et al. I sold a few “CRKT” which are “PRC” and “Civivi” which are “PRC” . . . these are “leftovers” as I endeavor to purify my peddler bag of communist-regime countries. A “Benchmade – Onslaught” sold for decent money. Sold a “Victorinox – Fisherman” to a fisherman! Happy customer! A return customer, “Nick”, collects “RoseCraft”. He had three “Rosies” in his pocket! We talked about Andy Armstrong’s possible move to bring his manufacturing home . . . I sold him the “Physician” knife and mentioned how much I like the “wharncliffe” blade partnered with the pill spatula.
    As always, I enjoyed talking knives with everyone. The peddler bag “lost some weight”.
