H. Clay Aalders is a lifelong edged tool user. He spent the past 20 years as a woodworker and fishing guide in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Idaho, and Tennessee.   1. gonna be spendy but i like a chappy, and the fat red cf looks sweet.
    i’ve no use for the cobol but it looks really cool.
    hope the abalone scales wind up on something other than the bug. chappy seems to get the most weird handles…
    i’d like to spend a few minutes with the balance, just not sure about that.

    1. Update: The “Moran-Upswept” w/Damasteel blade shown in this “Reveal” was much discussed at the recent “100th Birthday of Bill Moran” celebration on May 31st. The history of the “Bill Moran”-endorsed featherweight patterns, e.g. Upswept and Drop-point, started in 1995 with the release of a limited run of fifty (50) “Upswept” knives with a convex edge. The “Drop-point” arrived in 1997 or thereabouts and both knives had flat grinds. Several subtle changes, e.g. etches on blades, were made up to about 2011 or thereabouts. The handle on these knives has always been a synthetic polymer something or another . . I do not like it. I figure that Spyderco used this material for ease of production. Note: My personal “Moran” “Upswept” and “Drop-point” are custom handled with curly maple and antler.
      Now, the blade is Damasteel. The handle remains the same. It is ugly. Spyderco is advertising this knife at a MSRP $500. Dealers are discounting it to $375. At this cost, I think that Spyderco could use Micarta or G-10 in “curly maple” . . . Bill would endorse it.
