Sometimes, a knife is allowed to just be pretty. And no company does that better on a Spyderco knife, than the good people at Santa Fe Stoneworks. This knife started its life as a C11 Delica with stainless steel handles, which provided a perfect canvas for this beautiful combination of Abalone and Malachite!
He isn’t kidding, Santa Fe Stoneworks does a fantastic job. They go way back with Spyderco, and way back with Mark as well.
This is from March’s Knife News column. I talked to them as SHOT Show, and wanted to cover them while we were pulling together our big SHOT Show article for April.
Santa Fe Stoneworks debuts Copperworks Collection for 2026
Santa Fe Stoneworks is a second generation family company has carved out a niche for itself pairing unique materials such as fossil mammoth, semi-precious stones, and even dinosaur bone with high end knives to create useable works of art. Starting as a maker of decorative heishi beads and stone embellished business accoutrements, they partnered with Camillus cutlery in the 1980s realizing the gentlemen’s gift-knife market was largely untapped. They added Spyderco in the 1990s, when Sal Glesser wanted an answer to the Yellowhorse knives being produced by Buck at the time. After Camillus closed in 2007, Santa Fe Stoneworks began to have knives produced under their own brand.
The new Copperworks Collection is their first time using “Copper Damascus” which fuses decorative layers of copper and brass with a VG10 stainless core. The Collection is debuting in 4 of their popular models, their 3” lockback (designed by the legendary Phil Gibbs), 4” liner lock, and their premium El Rey and Tesoro titanium button lock models. The latter 2 are available with Cerakote bolsters. Cerakote is a new material which Santa Fe Stoneworks has added for 2026, and will be available in an array of colors which complement their intricate handle inlays across their lineup.
